2 types of scholarships for students, lecturers and researchers of foreign countries are offered in the 2018-2019 academic year:

The list of Lithuanian higher education institutions and study programmes of all study fields are available at www.studyinlithuania.lt.

  • Lithuanian short-term studies

For choosing the higher education institution for Lithuanian short-term (1-2 semesters) studies, candidates are advised to use AIKOS platform, selecting key words, for example  “Lithuanian philology”.

 

The autumn semester in higher education and research institutions of Lithuania normally lasts from September until January and the spring semester – from February until June. In order to arrange studies in Lithuania and receive an official approval of acceptance, the candidate is advised to contact directly the International Office of the chosen Lithuanian higher education institution. Information about study programmes delivered in English language at Lithuanian higher education institutions is available online at www.studyinlithuania.lt

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. The candidate has to receive an official approval of acceptance from the chosen Lithuanian higher education institution.
  2. The candidate has to be a student of a higher education institution of the particular country mentioned in the table above.
  3. The candidate has to have good knowledge of Lithuanian, English or other language required to study the chosen study programme (the minimum of B2 level of study language command according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required).

FINANCIAL PROVISIONS

  • Candidates of the first and second study cycle, approved for the short–term studies, will receive a monthly scholarship of approx. 380 EUR. Candidates of the third study cycle and resident studies approved for the short–term studies will receive a monthly scholarship of approx. 456 EUR. 
  • The exact sum of the total amount allocated for the candidate will be calculated according to the number of days that specific month consists of, thus slight variations in the monthly scholarship might occur. The scholarship is intended to cover the scholarship holder’s expenses only. Additional amount for accompanying partners or family is not provided. Lithuanian state scholarships cannot be double funded from other sources, e.g. other scholarships or other academic exchange programmes.
  • Tuition fee for studies will be covered by the Republic of Lithuania and directly transferred to the higher education institution.
  • The maximum amount of the tuition fee will be determined by the normative costs that are approved by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania.
  • Any other fees such as a student union fee, a library membership fee, etc. shall be paid by the scholarship holder.
  • Travel and accommodation costs shall be covered by the scholarship holder.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Candidates must provide the copies of these listed documents through online application system:

1.  Completed application form (through online application system);

2. The Conditional Agreement for Studies (the form must be added to the application form as an attachment using this template form - it must be completely filled in and signed by three parties: candidate, a responsible person at the sending and receiving institutions). Recommendations for filling out the Conditional Agreement;

3. One recommendation letter filled and signed by a professor or other academic staff, tutor or employer (provided through online application system or added to the application form as an attachment using this template form).

 4. Certificate of proficiency in English or Lithuanian (or another language required by the host institution). TOEFL, IELTS, CPE or other widely recognized exams of English proficiency are acceptable. If the candidate does not hold any of those certificates, then a signed letter confirming the proficiency in the language from the home university’s professor of English or Lithuanian is also acceptable.

Required additional documents must be completed in English or Lithuanian language only (or with certified translations into one of these languages).

Lithuanian short–term studies

 

10 scholarships for Lithuanian short-term (1-2 semesters) studies are offered for candidates who are students, lecturers or researchers (in linguistics or philology) of higher education and research institutions of all countries of the world.

 

Programme requirements for the Lithuanian studies

Applicants for the Lithuanian studies scholarship are required to choose or design their study programme which might include subjects such as: Lithuanian philology, linguistics, literature, Lithuanian history, ethnology and folklore, culturology, etc. Applicants for the Lithuanian studies are required to aggregate 30 ECTS per one semester.

 

For choosing the higher education institution for Lithuanian short-term (1-2 semesters) studies, candidates are advised to use AIKOS platform (link - www.aikos.smm.lt/en/Pages/Default.aspx), selecting key words “Lithuanian philology” and etc. for search.  Candidates are advised to contact an international office of the chosen higher education institution for more detailed information about studies that the institution offers.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. The candidate has to receive an official approval of acceptance (Conditional Agreement) from the chosen Lithuanian higher education institution.
  2. The candidate has to be a student, lecturer or researcher (in linguistics or philology) of a higher education and research institution of the particular country.
  3. The candidate has to have good knowledge of Lithuanian, English or other language required to study in the chosen study programme (the minimum of B2 level of study language command according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is required).
  4. Priority will be given to the applicants who:
    • study or teach at Lithuanian (Baltic) science centers (students, teachers and scientists) – it should be noted in the application form;
    • formally or informally study Lithuanian language, history and culture as a subject at the home institution – it should be noted in the application form;
    • are foreigners of Lithuanian origin.

For foreigners of Lithuanian origin: a certificate or other document proving the Lithuanian origin issued by the Lithuanian community of a respective country or other competent authority (an embassy and similar) or a document issued by a competent foreign authority (a school, municipality, embassy and similar) proving that the person has resided for three years in a foreign country if he/she is an alien.

Required additional documents must be completed in English or Lithuanian language only (or with certified translations into one of these languages).

 

Documents must be submitted only through online application system. There’s no requirement to send them by post, fax or email. Incomplete applications or submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

 

IMPORTANT DATES

Deadline for the online application submission is 1st of March 2018Regarding additional documents – please add all required documents to the application form through online application system. Online application system will be closed at 11.59 p.m. Central European time (GMT+1) on the 1st March, 2018. 

2nd of May, 2018 – e-mail notification will be sent regarding the results of all short-term studies in Lithuania.
